Radio Broadcast on Armed Forces Radio regarding UFO's with officer assigned to Project Blue Book
In early 1967 I was a U. S. Marine in I Corps in Viet Nam and I was listening to an interview on Armed Forces Radio.
The interviewee claimed to be an officer assigned to Project Blue Book. I do not recall the officer's name, nor the exact date of the broadcast after all these years but this I do clearly recall: The officer stated that UFO's were in fact REAL, and that the government would reveal this sometime in the "next 12 years."
Obviously 1979, twelve years from the broadcast, has long since come and gone. And no word from the government.
I have no idea what the significance of "twelve years" would have been.
Some of these details have been lost to memory over the years, but I do recall the gist of the broadcast, the fact that the interviewee claimed to be assigned (or to have been assigned) to Project Blue Book, and that the truth would be revealed in the next twelve years.
Perhaps MUFON has heard of this broadcast or that there are other Viet Nam vets out there who remember hearing this.

Saw object moving in sky that had appearance of a satellite, but didn't move or act like a satellite does.
I was serving in the Army in Viet Nam in 1967 and was in the field at Dakto attached to the 4th Infantry Division providing field radio relay and carrier support with the 167 Signal Company. In all of these years, I have never reported this event nor even told many people about it. I am retired now, but had a long career in public service and can be vouched for by many for being a conservative, level headed and highly credible individual.
I stepped out of the shower (to the outdoors as the shower was simply a wood frame with a 55 gal drum on top filled with water and a spigit to release it) late in the evening so it was dark (almost no ambient light in the Viet Nam boondocks)and the night sky visible with no cloud cover. The Viet Nam night sky is almost devoid of stars, except a few scattered along northern horizon and the moon was either not out or not bright. In that type of setting I always look up at the sky as I do anywhere I have a good view of the sky. I am a habitual sky watcher, but not in any amateur astronomer sense, just like to look at the stars, the Milky Way (when camping in U.S.) and watching for satellites. When I looked up, all there was in the sky was an object that was about 40 degrees above the horizon, at about 2:00 o'clock as I stood, I think facing north west. The object looked the way a satellite looks in the night sky in terms of size, shape and refected light, but that is not what it was. Rather than moving in a straight line (although satellites can look a little bit wobbly at times, which this did not)it was moving in a sharp sig-zag pattern, while at the same time moving forward at a speed much slower that a satellite moves across the sky. The sig-zag movement was very sharp and precise in the distance it moved right to left and in the angle it moved forward with each sig and zag. This movement was not erratic in any sense of the word nor was the object wandering in any way. Above for "flight path" I put both "straight line" and "directional change" because although it sig-zaged (very precisly)its forward movement was a straight line if plotted along its axis points. I watched with utter dumbfounded amazement as the object moved across the sky in its zig-zag but forward moving pattern for probably ten to fifteen minutes. During that time, the object's forward progress across the sky had moved it from about 2:00 o'clock when I spotted it to about my 11:30 to 12:00 o'clock as I was facing. In this amount of time a satellite would have moved all of the way across the sky and out of sight (in much less time than this). This object's forward progress was much slower that a satellite, even though its back and forth movements were very quick. As the object got to the point in the sky I described as about my 11:30 to 12:00 o'clock (and as I described above it was probably at about 70 degrees), it suddenly stopped and then shot straight up in the sky at an amazingly rapid speed until it just dissapeared. I was dumb struck at what I had witnessed and walked to my tent in wonderment. I new I had seen something not from this world, but have pretty well kept it to myself all these years until now.
This is as true and accurate statement as to what I witnessed as I can relate, but it is still as vivid in mind as when it happened. I hope someone will respond as what is thought about what I described. Above, I didn't check the box about being kept anonymous. I basically don't care one way or the other. Do as you see fit.
Thanks,
jlh

Like a bowling ball was like a whit light
This is Raymond A Ramirez, in November 1967 myself and approximately 50 other Marines saw a UFO. We were all at a lonely section of an army base. They have taken all weapons away from us, we were having c-rations and either two beers or two sodas or a combination of the two. When it got dark army artillery started going off. We could see the muzzle flash.
When all of a sudden we could see this light coming slowly toward us, we started moving very slowly toward the trench in front of use thinking this was a loose round. It was spear shape and approximately three or four times the size of an average bowling ball. There was no sound whatsoever coming out of it, just bright but, it did not shine any light on the ground or illuminate anyone it was just there. It was low, I would say 8 feet up above the ground
maybe 10 feet above the ground and stopped right in front of us, as though it was looking at us. After
around 30 seconds it shot into the sky at about 90° and it traveled faster than a bullet, it kept climbing and climbing until the last guy with the best Eyes couldn’t see it anymore. It look like it disappeared into the stars and there was no sound whatsoever no thrust that could be seen, no propulsion that could be seen, nothing it was like a magnet just drew or pulled it up. This is true so help me God. I experienced another sitting after leaving service. It was I September 2968, this sitting was even more stranger.

Observed aboard USS Hancock CVA-19 at dusk in 1968
I was in the navy prior to obtaining my flight wings and flew for the US Marine Corps until I retired in 1993.
There is a follow up story as interesting as the first aboard the USS FDR in 1971 regarding my first CIC report.
I just think this should go on the record before I die. The other guy (sailor) who was an on duty witness on the report is not remember by me by name..
I just thought this needs to go on some report before i die.

Explorers waving Good-Bye?
In the second week of March 1968 around 9:30 pm I was standing on the beach, facing east, just south of Da Nang, Vietnam. I Observed a red dot 70 degrees above the horizon moving south to north in a very straight line. Since no one in his right mind would fly with any lights on in this area I assumed it to be a space satellite. With nothing better to do, I continued to watch the "satellite" for about a minute. At about a 60 degree angle to the northern horizon it suddenly just Stopped! It then back upped and made a perfect counter clockwise circle around a star. When it reached the exact point that it started the circle, it shot in a general direction toward the star (about 15 degrees to the right of it), going from the red color to green then yellow, so fast that it seemed to be in three places at once.
The night sky was extremely clear, no moon, no ground lights or flares, and although the sky had more stars visible than I have ever seen, this particular star was in a region of space with no other visible stars near it.
Considering how spectacular the sighting was, I assumed that dozens, if not hundreds of people must have seen it also.
Only recently did I see the Documentary "The Universe ~ I Know What I Saw" by James Fox and did an internet search to see how other people reported the sighting. When I couldn't find anything even close I realized the mistake I made 44 years ago by not reporting it.

Warzone in Da Nang, RV
I was an Ensign USNR watch officer in DaNang at the White Elephant office building during the war. The UFOs appeared at some of the boat ramps along the DaNang River. I received many reports from these locations and an official report was submitted to the Commanding Office of the Naval Support Activity in the morning after the event. No response was received after the event. I kept a copy but since I recently moved to Fl. It may have survived.
Another event occurred in Arlington, Va. in March of 1993. I had just built a 6inch reflector telescope and was looking at the moon about 9 PM. I observed many flying objects crossing the Moon. ,The shape was similar to long black paper triangles arranged in a circle. They were not geese, no flapping wings, airplanes, etc. The direction was North to South across the lower limb of the Moon. The images were very sharp. The speed was moderately fast. I would say the diameter of the object was the width of the Moon.

UFO'S OVERHEAD DURING GROUND COMBAT
During middle of December 1968 while stationed on LZ WEST, during an enemy attempt at breaching the perimeter, one of my soldiers came running up to my bunker yelling, "They're here. They're here." Thinking the enemy breached the perimeter, I asked him where. He pointed straight up into the sky. I said what the hell are you talking about. He said "the UFO's". I told him he'd better get back to his bunker before I did something nasty to him. After the battle ceased, I spoke with him about the UFO'S. He said he'd seen them before. I let it drop. On 20 December 1968, we were up in Antenna Valley. My unit was B Co., 4/31st Inf. I was the 3rd platoon leader. We moved up on top of a hill just before dark at which time I observed an enemy soldier running through an opening several hundred yards away. My platoon was responsible for the North side of the hill perimeter. Sometime after dark, a couple of my positions reported movement coming up the hill towards them. I had them throw some grenades. The movement continued, so I called in some artillery. Movement continued, so I called in more artillery, along with some helicopter gunships and eventually Spooky. While in the process of coordinating all the supporting fires, the same young man crawled up to my position and indicated there was a UFO just to our west. I was able to locate what he had indicated, and it appeared to be bigger and brighter that the other stars in the sky. During one point when there was a lull in the supporting fires, I happened to look up at the star, just in time to see the star recede straight up into the sky so that it was the same size and intensity as the rest of the nearby stars. When the next round of supporting fires started, I observed the star descend to it's previous position and it remained there during the supporting fires. This went on all night. When there was ground fire, the UFO would descend and when the ground fire stopped, it would recede. During this whole time the UFO remained in it's approximate relative position with regards to the stars around it. If I didn't know where to look, I wouldn't have been able to see it. Finally with daybreak approaching, the last aircraft was leaving on it's way to Danang. I observed UFO at this point through my 7 X 50 binoculars. The UFO came much closer and began to circle to the south. It was at this point that the UFO was joined by two other UFO's that I had never noticed. Through my binoculars while looking at the UFO I could see that what appeared to be a single point of light with the naked eye, was actually 5 windows. I could clearly see the 5 windows but nothing inside. All three UFO's continued to make a complete circle around our position, and when they reached the spot to the west where I had been observing the first UFO, they all three shot straight up into the sky and were gone in a fraction of a second.

my ship was hit in 68 and i saw 2 glowing objects in 69 i was on the st. paul ca-73
I saw the show about the riverboats in Viet Nam. I am connected to that story in that I was on another ship the USS Saint Paul(CA-73)that was in the same place at the same time and was hit. The St. Paul is almost as large as a battleship. The report was we were hit by artillery fire. This was no such animal. I never told this story much before because its like bigfoot. I was on the ship one year later when I saw two orange balls of light come out of the sky and hover over the coast of Viet Nam about 5 miles south of the DMZ. I watched them for four hours then F-4 Phantoms chased them away. I was told to keep quiet about the matter. If you care to contact me my phone number is [Phone number removed/cms/tg].

A tubular object with red and white lights observed over DMZ
It was about 4:15 in the morning in the third week in April of 1970 just prior to the Cambodian operation. We were on the YFU-79 on another ammo resupply run to Dong Ha and were making circles just off the mouth of the Song Cua Viet awaiting dawn so that we could safely clear the sandbars at the entrance to the river. Our position was approximately 16 deg & 55 min N Lat and 107 deg 15 min E Long. It was a clear night with a light wind. There were 4 of us on the duty watch. I was the helmsman and the boat's radioman. We had a deck seaman for our lookout, an engineman who was on the bridge with us, and the quartermaster was our Petty Officer of the Deck. We had done a couple of circles off-shore and when we came around on a heading back to the north-west, we suddenly saw this tubular object hovering over the DMZ close to the coast and south of the Song Ben Hai which is the river that splits the DMZ. The object did not appear to have any wings, a tail section or rotors. It was essentially a large tube-like object with red and white lights that could be seen along it's side. There was no engine noise that we could hear from it. The elevation was between 2,000 and 3,000 feet and we were perhaps 8 clicks south-east of the object. Abruptly, the object accelerated to the west at a very high speed and then just as suddenly came to a dead stop. My guess is that the object was now due north of the base at Dong Ha. It then slowly returned to the east, hovered near the coast for 2 or 3 minutes and then proceeded slowly on a north-easterly course out over the South China Sea where it disappeared from view. Red and white lights could be seen on the side of the object that we could observe. They didn't alternate colors but there were 2 or 3 reds and then a white light and gave the impression of being windows or some sort of aperture in the object through which the light came. The four of us on watch debated about whether we should enter the incident into the boat's log book but opted not to since we figured that we'd either be sent off to see psychologists or brought up on drug charges. We were very familiar with all types of aircraft and helicopters that operated over the DMZ. This object did not look nor behave like any aircraft we were familiar with at the time nor since.

On guard duty early summer Vietnam. Something behind the stars caught my eye because of its sudden movement across the heavens.
On a hot summer night about 2-3 am in Vietnam I think it was Quon Loî . I was atop a bunker on guard duty. When an object at star distance caught my eye because of its rapid movements. Not wanting to lose sight I grabbed my Starlight scope and observed this object seen to withdrawal into space then forward. Would shoot across in a horizontal manner and appeared to do it at an incredible speed. Still through the starlight scope could not even begin to estimate its size ? Except star size. Never called it in as I was in awe. Until a few years later and the Movie Close Encounters of The Third Kind came out. Freaked me out soo much. Never told this story to the public. But it’s a true story

While flying at about 18000 feet, UFO flew formation on me
While flying a TPQ (ground radar controlled) bombing mission in Vietnam during 1970, I was directed to fly a northerly heading to reach my target that I was to drop my bombs on. A TPQ bombing mission involved the pilot flying his aircraft at a set altitude and airspeed and the ground radar would direct you over the target and tell you when to drop your bombs on the target. The ground radar figured the drop based on actual airspeed, configuration of the bombs, wind, altitude and glide angle of the bombs. I was flying at about 18,000 feet under radar control on a night bombing mission. I looked out to my right and started to observe another aircraft approaching my aircraft. It was a bright starry night and I do not recall noticing a moon. My eyes were adapted to night vision, so I could make out the shape of the aircraft as it approached and noticed that it had blinking or pulsating lights along the entire length of the aircraft. I called my radar controller and asked if I had traffic in my area and he replied "no you are the only aircraft on my scope". I continued to fly and noticed the aircraft appeared to be quite large compared to my small A-4E Skyhawk, a single engine, single pilot aircraft that is only 47 feet long and with a 27 foot wingspan. This aircraft appeared to be several time larger than my aircraft and came in closer to me. I could see the lights better and the shape was more of a cigar shaped object. I again asked the controller if I had traffic and again he replied no, an continued to give my direction control to my target. The object flew formation on me for about 10 minutes and then abruptly changed course and climbed out of sight rapidly to my right and up. I heard no sound other than my engine and could see no signs of propulsion from the object. I once again asked about traffic and was told no other aircraft were around me. I completed my flight to the target, dropped my bombs and returned to my airbase at DaNang, Vietnam. This happened between DaNang and the DMZ between North and South Vietnam. We were told during our first week of flight school at Pensacola Naval Air Station, that if we ever reported seeing a UFO, we would be sent to an Air Force base in CO and would stay there until either we decided we had not seen a UFO or we would be discharged from the service as a Section 8 (mental). Needless to say, I did not report this sighting.

bright star-like object zooming from north across the western sky just below Taurus
It was Christmas Eve 1971. I was an airman first class assigned to the 1881st Communications Squadron at the huge U.S. Air Force base at Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam. It was about 11:30 p.m., I was walking west on the lane that would take me to the base chapel for midnight mass.
The sky was crystal clear. Cam Ranh Bay was only a couple of degrees of latitude north of the equator. For a kid who grew up in upstate New York, it was bit discomforting, because we were too far south to see common constellations like Ursa Major, aka the Big Dipper, in the northern sky.
As I looked into the western sky, I could see the constellation Perseus and, above that, Taurus. High in the sky above them was the constellation Orion, with its left shoulder star of Betelgeuse bright as ever.
Suddenly I saw a bright star-like object zooming from the north across the western sky just below Taurus. My first impression: 1Oh, it1s a meteor or perhaps just some fighter jet.1 Then the object just STOPPED. It hovered there below Taurus for perhaps a minute or two. Then it seemed to dance or dart around before it dashed off toward the south at tremendous speed until it just 1winked out.1
I was 19 years old; I didn1t know what to think. About all I could say was, 1Wow!1 During midnight mass, I was not with the program at all; I was replaying what I saw over and over again in my head. Fearing my Air Force peers would think I was intoxicated or worse, NUTS, I kept the sighting to myself for many years until I shared it about 15 years ago to a couple of Native American folks I used to know. Now, I1ve shared with you a deeply personal sighting as a holiday gift.

radar wach off coast of Veitnam had faint target around 50 knots larger than a aircraft carrier
559 478-1216 Back in 1972 or 73 at the Gulf of Tonkin Vietnam while I was onboard USS New Orleans LPH 11I was tad to cic to help the radar men, I was on surface search radar watch. I saw a target that was larger than an aircraft carrier and maybe twice as wide. It was going quite fast maybe 50 knots, but didn1t track it because my supervisor told me it was a weather anomaly. However I still watched it as it moved striate for about 3 or 4 sweeps. Then on the next sweep it makes a 90 deg. turn striate up for 3 sweeps and then disappears.
The target was a week trace (fuszy) and could have been on the water or above the water by maybe 40 or 50 feet. But my supervisor might be right. It miht be the weather. But it was different than any clouds I have seen and the tracking looked deferent, more like a regular target but too fast for a ship and too big for an airplane. to this day I wonder what it really was.
My first thought was confusion, then UFO. I had other things to do as I was on watch and it was in a war zone.
