{nd} Very bright, brighter than Sirius. Every so often it would dim down to redish glow. Stationary. Around 7:20pm I looked up at Orion, as I do most nights. In my peripheral vision to the right, I noticed an impossibly bright 'star'. It was low in the sky and looked far away. As I watched, it dimmed down to a faint reddish glow, for about a minute, then went back to the bright white color. Every so often it would do this. After about 30 minutes, I got in the car and drove toward it, watching the whole time. It was in the western sky. I came to a low area with trees, and lost sight of it. When I came upon a ridge, it was gone.
