Saw a craft come in rapidly. Stopped for about two minutes, then leave the direction it came from.
Late July of 1996, a friend and I were standing on his door step facing west at 3:00am in the morning. He lived just across the street from the Yerington intermediate school playground. As we were convert-sating a huge craft flew in from the north, heading south. It was traveling at least Mach 2, and came to a dead stop within one second. The craft was at least 200ft long and only around 200ft from the ground. It was only 1/4 mile from us. It startled both of us to see something that huge move like that! The small town was silent. No traffic at this time. We should have heard jet engines, or propellers. We heard nothing at all. If we had been facing a different direction, we would have missed it! The craft appeared to be triangular in shape, based on the two soft white steady lights in the back and one up front. It hovered motionless for around two minutes. I told my friend to go get his parents 35mm camera so we could take a picture. He informed me that the batteries in it had been dead for some time. I suggested to call the police station and tell them to look toward the in town park. Well that didn’t happen as we could not take our eyes off of it. It was just so mesmerizing and intriguing!!!!! It stayed for only around two minutes before it took off in the direction it came from (north). It did not turn around, it backed out. There is a big play rocket at the in town park with two slides attached for children to play on. They can climb up and slide back down. I truly believe that this craft was doing a reconnaissance on the rocket.
